A personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ is the foundational need in every person's life, and three additional emotional needs - a sense of belonging, worthiness, and competence - are universal and essential for a fulfilling life. However, people often try to meet these needs in unhealthy ways, building emotional structures such as denial, avoidance, projection, lying, acquiescence, and conformity, which can lead to emotional crippling and prevent genuine relationships.
