We're going to leave a link in the description so you can do just that. And today's verse of the day is coming to us from Psalm 103. Starting in verse 17 and 18 it says, The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting, on those who fear him and his righteousness, to children's children, to such as keep his covenant, and to those who remember his commandments to do them. This picture of the faithfulness of God across generations is such an encouragement. It was especially powerful in that context, in the context of God's people.

Because, you know, they often use language like the God of our forefathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob. And this emphasis on God being faithful throughout history, throughout generations, across generational lines, was paramount to what they believed. Yes, that's something that God has asked us to do. He's asking us in his word to share his love and his righteousness with generations that come after us.

How do I do that? We remember what he's promised you. You obey what he's called you to do so that future generations can look to you as an example and they're going to know the graciousness of God through your life lived out as a testament to him. And if I can add to that, take the time to actually talk to your kids about what God has done, who God is, and how we should be thankful to him for the many blessings that we have. Don't just assume that your kids know that they're going to pick it up from your life. Yes, set them that example, but also take the time to sit down and say those words to them. Communicate that to your kids, communicate that to your teenagers, even your adult children.

Have those conversations with them. I'm not having a good day. Today's not fine. We just talked about how God's been faithful across generations.

God has been faithful, but God has also placed some people in my life that need to get right about today. Oh, no. Welcome to the grapevine. I'm going to be feasting on some grapes today. Some juicy, sweet grapes right from the vine. These are adults who refer to food as yummy.

That was not where I was expecting this to go. You have a problem with the word yummy or adults using the word yummy? I don't love the word yummy, but I especially don't love when an adult, you know, if an adult is talking to a kid, whatever.

Hold on, I'm just going to have some of the yummy coffee. Yeah, I don't like that. If you're talking to me, I wouldn't like that.

And it happens, like it happens a lot with women in text messages. They'll be like, or like, or like your wife will do it a lot. Nicole will do it a lot.

Ellie, I think Ellie will do it, but not in person. But they'll be talking and like Elizabeth will stand up and she'll be talking to the congregation at large and be like, hey, we've got a women's event. You guys come out, we're going to have some dancing. We're going to have some, we're going to do some videos. We're going to do some raffling. There's going to be some yummy food right there, right there. It needs to be correct.

What word should she use? We're going to have some food. It can taste like socks. No, it's going to taste like socks. We're going to have some good food. We're going to have some homemade food. We're going to have, I would take vittles over yummy. No, yummy is not a word that like, okay. Imagine, imagine if a man used it. Imagine if, if like a drill instructor was like talking to his privates and he's like, we're going to be in the mess hall at 1300 and we're all going to have yummy snack.

Just missed. Adults don't need to be using the word yummy. But if you'll notice the trend of the, of the women that you mentioned using it, what is something they all have in common? Their mothers.

Right. Their mothers. I get it. I get it. And they all interact with, not only their mothers, but they all interact with younger kids on a regular basis. Because even Nicole's kids are older, she works in place with kids on the mornings, she works in a one-on-one Wednesday nights during the school year. They're bringing the kiddie nomenclature into adult interactions, which is not okay.

It's fine. Imagine if I see people on the street and this is something that happened once I had kids. I used to be like, hey, what's going on? How y'all doing? Now I wave to people like this. It's not fine. Hey, hey, how y'all doing? I unironically asked someone one time that I saw a falling guy. I was like, are you going to booboo? I was like, I'm so sorry.

I have little kids at home. So I guess to zoom out, this red vine is about people who bring kiddie nomenclature into adult life, but really it's about people who refer to food as yummy. It's not fine. You don't see it like on flyers, like we're going to have yummy snack or yummy food. It's it's what is yummy? What is yummy? Is it sweet? Is it tangy? It's delicious. It's good tasting food. What if I go there?

It's so broad, so nondescript. What if I go there and I taste the food and I don't like it? I'm like, this is not yummy. That makes you a liar.

You're a liar for that. So you could say we're going to have some food or some homemade food, but it puts me in a headspace when I'm talking to an adult that I don't love, that I don't love. And that's fine. You don't have to like the word yummy. I talked to Elizabeth about it and she said she's not going to stop. She's just going to call her food yummy. And it's something I've seen mainly women. And here's the thing.

She's probably now that she knows it's going to annoy you, she's probably going to go out of her way to call your food yummy. But I think if a man did it, I think if a man did it, it might have to be a fight. I don't know. I think if like a police officer came up to me and was like, you know, why don't you come on down to the station? We're going to have some yummy food. I think I might have to be like, officer. I'm not a fight officer.

I won't do that. Next time you have peanut butter burgers, I'm going to call them yummy. I think Mike Stockwell did call them yummy. These are yummy burgers. These are yummy burgers. Does that sound right to you?

A yummy burger? I mean, it is kid nomenclature. You're absolutely right. All right.

That's my gripe. Do you guys use the word yummy? Let us know. Send a text to 2525825028. We're going to get Dr. Josh for the rest of our episode. Also follow all of our content on social media or you can check us out online at cleaveytodayshow.com. We'll be back after this.
